Incorporating
Wireless Technologies into Architectural Spaces
(1.5 Credit Hours)
This 90 minute Case Study and Lecture will explore the importance
of incorporating plans for wireless technologies into the
early stages of architectural space planning and design.
Participants will learn the options available for incorporating
licensed and unlicensed wireless technologies into various
architecturally defined spaces. Topics include wireless
LAN access and point-to-point capabilities, Free Space Optics
(FSO), satellite applications, and carrier services (licensed)
options along with the appropriate design considerations.
Our focus is on the various new antennae options available
and their incorporation into building spaces. We describe
the technologies and design aspects as a case study of a
project in which we incorporated a multipoint Wide Area
Network using Free Space Optics and 802.11b wireless technology.
