Cosentini
Associates provided full MEP/FP engineering and specialty
lighting design services for this 150,000 square foot,
3-story structure that includes a library and classrooms.
Designing the fire suppression system involved assessing
fire partitions and hazard classifications to determine
appropriate sprinkler zones and system densities. The
ultimate design combined a standpipe system operating
in conjunction with the fire pump and service that exists
in an adjacent building. Sprinklers were designed in
accordance with NFPA and local New Jersey code requirements.
Hydraulic calculations were prepared to ensure that
the sprinkler system performed as required. What made
this a complicated design was the higher density demanded
by library stacks and the exceptional depth of the structural
steel required to support the library. |
