Cosentini
Associates has been providing building information modeling
as a service for many years. We have always been excited by
this tool’s ability to assist us in the design process
and, most importantly, in how clearly it allows us to give
our clients a visual understanding of what our work will look
like and how it will function once constructed. This makes
for a highly detailed design process and ultimately a more
cost-effective project.
We currently use Revit-MEP and Digital Project to perform building information modeling. We also use AutoDesk VIZ 2008 to create renderings and Fluent for Computational Fluid Dynamics modeling to validate our engineering concepts.
Revit-MEP
and Digital Project perform advanced calculations and maintain
project coordination and quality control between design teams.
They facilitate the visualization of complex models and quickly
detect system interference between objects. Their dynamic
sectioning process allows us to create multiple sections within
a complex design so that we are able to more easily convey
design intent. They provide a platform for a simultaneous
design process and a unique work environment structure that
fosters collaborative project development. They also have
the ability to export files to other leading engineering analysis
programs used to perform Computational Fluid and Finite Element
Analyses, as well as energy simulations. The programs
are able to provide input with regard to cost estimating and
we are also using them to produce contract documents that
accurately reflect our MEP/FP systems layouts. |
